The EDGE Cheer Center, owned and operated by Jenny Rowe, is now in it's 6th year of business and we continue growing every year. We began our first year in 2004 with one team of 21 All Stars and approximately 70 other students. Now in the 2009-2010 Season, we have 99 All Stars competing on 4 cheer and 2 dance teams and have a total of 200 students. The EDGE has several annual events including our Halloween Party, Christmas Holiday Party, Spring Lock-In ,and Summer Camp that are open to the public. We participate in all of the local Highlands County Christmas Parades--we were named the Best Performing Group in the 2007 and 2008 Sebring Christmas Parade. We are also an annual sponsor of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Snowfest in Sebring and the VERB program for Highlands County. We were also invited to perform at the Miss Highlands County Pageant in 2009 and have been featured peformers at the Cancer Society's Relay for Life in 2007, 2008, and 2009. Over the past five years, the EDGE All Stars have earned an impressive amount of awards through our Regional and National level competitions. We proudly boast 20 National Championships by our teams and over 25 top 3 finishes at National competitions and our Senior 4 Coed Team finished in the top Ten of the International All Levels Championships in Atlanta, GA. This year, we brought in choreographers to continue to help our teams develop and be able to compete and win at a high level. We hope to also bring in a skills camp in 2009 to further develop our atheletes' talents. We have also expanded our program to include Hip Hop Dance Teams for the 2009-10 Season. Jenny Rowe, the owner and head coach of the EDGE, has an extensive background in gymnastics and dance. She began both at the age of 3 years old and competed in gymnastics through Level 9 and was a long-time member of the competitive dance company, Dance Odessey. She attended Rollins College in Winter Park, FL and during that time, was able to work as a dancer at Disney World and with Chezzam Production company out of New York. Jenny graduated in 1999 with a major in International Relations, with minors in Business Administration and Dance Arts. She continued teaching dance, working as an adjunct professor at both Rollins and Valencia Community College, until she moved to Highlands County in 2001. She began teaching tumbling and working with the Sebring High School cheerleading program and worked as the Assistant Varsity Coach for 3 years. She also contiunued to teach dance at a local studio. Jenny is an award-winning choreographer and peformer with Highlands Little Theater. She is USASF Certified in Levels 1 through 5 in tumbling, tosses, and stunts. Jenny lives in Sebring with her husband, Grant, and 2 daughters, Emma and Katelyn. We have several Alumni Members cheering in the college systems. Both Charlie Asciutto and Richard Delgado, former students and coaches, are cheered and comped for Wallace State Community College and placed 2nd at the 2009 UCA College Nationals. Charlie is now cheering at Florida Atlantic University and recently made the United States National Cheerleading Team. Maurice Williams, one of our current coaches, was on the National Championship team at Wallace in 2005. Brittany Alcordo, a former All Star, made the nationally ranked UCF Coed Team and is on UCA Staff. We thank everyone for continuing to send your children to the EDGE to not only develop them as great athletes, but to also see them grow as amazing young women and men. |
